Ethiopia 🇪🇹

As the first initiative for our Universal Well-Being Foundation, we personally created Our Extended Family 501(c)(3) public charity, dedicated to our beloved extended family of adopted nieces and nephews in Ethiopia. Just as a real extended family can always count on each other, Our Extended Family is a source of love, connection, and support to vulnerable children and families in Ethiopia.

Mission

Our current mission is to continue making yearly trips to Ethiopia in order to visit our adopted orphaned nieces and nephews. We will also continue building relationships within the Ethiopian community so that we can help more vulnerable children, as resources allow.

Vision

Our long-term vision is to establish a boarding school in Ethiopia where orphaned and vulnerable children receive loving care and a well-rounded education that nurtures body, mind, and soul—­inspired by the universal educational ideals of Paramahansa Yogananda.

It all started in 2022, when we unexpectedly got to visit a small group home for orphaned children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the visit we formed a special bond with the children, who affectionately asked us to be their aunt and uncle. Since that transformative encounter, we’ve remained closely connected with the 12 children and their caregivers, and have gone back to visit them every year.
